What with the mainstream media focusing more on what Mitt Romney said about the Mideast violence than about the failures of intelligence or policy that led to it, any news executive who insists that mainstream reporters are simply automatons of objectivity must not be paying attention–either to the real world or his own words.

Here’s how David Rhodes, president of CBS News, defended his network’s news broadcast against charges of bias:

I think, frankly, one of the great things about working with Scott (Pelley, the new main anchor of the CBS Evening News) since we elevated him, is that nobody really knows where he is, and that is so rare in this environment.

Yeah, we know.
